DHS: 558 new COVID-19 cases, 18 more deaths

The Department of Health Services reported 558 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, for a total of 604,378.

The state’s death toll remains at 6,935, after DHS reported 18 more deaths.

An additional 5,400 Wisconsinites have been tested for COVID-19, for a total of 3,494,575.

DHS considers 7,700 cases active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 491, down 12 from Tuesday and 135 from a week ago.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths is 10, the same as Tuesday and up two from a week ago.

As of Tuesday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 3.1 percent, the same as Monday and down 0.2 percentage points from a week ago, per preliminary data from DHS.

Wisconsin vaccinators administered 4,751,017 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Tuesday.

Per state data, 44.6 percent of the state’s population, or 2,598,820 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 38 percent, or 2,215,045 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.

They gave 20,463 doses on Tuesday, with a seven-day average of 25,238 daily shots.
