Construction starts on Versiti Blood Research Institute expansion
Construction on Versiti Blood Research Institute’s expansion in Wauwatosa will start this month.
The institute held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the 79,000-square-foot addition.
It’ll nearly double the institute’s research capacity when it opens in 2026.
“We will attract leading scientific minds and fuel groundbreaking research, turning discoveries into lifesaving treatments that transform patient care worldwide,” Versiti CEO Chris Miskel said in a statement.
The institute plans to expand its current team of 31 principal scientists to around 50 in the next five to seven years.
Each new scientist will bring a team of up to 10 new colleagues.
Backing for the $79 million project comes from donations, private funding and $10 million from the state.
