DHS reports two-week high in new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health Services reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in two weeks on Thursday.

There were 422 new cases of COVID-19, accounting for 4 percent of the 10,599 test results reported

. That percentage was also the highest in two weeks.

There were seven additional deaths.

The total number of deaths is now 719, while the total number of confirmed cases is 23,876.

There were 241 patients with the illness that were hospitalized in Wisconsin. Eighty-two were in intensive care units.

The National Guard on Thursday was doing community testing in Baraboo, Iron River, Madison, Milwaukee and Racine.

It was also collecting specimens at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility in Grant County, Racine Correctional Institution and at a Caledonia senior living facility.
