Wisconsin reported 7,000-plus COVID-19 cases Saturday

Wisconsin set a new high for daily COVID-19 cases on Saturday, surpassing 7,000 new cases in a single day.

The 7,065 cases came after the state reported a previous record of 6,141 cases on Friday, the first time it surpassed 6,000 cases in a single day.

There have been 267,410 total cases, after an additional 4,280 were reported Sunday. The Department of Health Services considers 58,119 cases active.

COVID-19 hospitalizations remain at a record high, with 1,860 total COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals on Sunday, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association. That was a single-day increase of 54 and up 326 compared to last week.

There were 397 patients in intensive care units, an increase of 24 and up 50 from last week.

An additional 56 deaths over the weekend brought the death toll to 2,312.

The seven-day average for daily new cases was 5,506, and the seven-day average

So far, 2,184,211 Wisconsinites have been tested for the virus.
