DHS: 31.1 percent of Wisconsinites get at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot
More than 31 percent of Wisconsinites have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, per state data released Thursday.
Wisconsin vaccinators administered 2,890,231 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Wednesday.
They gave 65,545 doses on Wednesday, with a seven-day average of 48,338 daily shots.
Per state data, 31.1 percent of the state’s population, or 1,810,361 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 18.5 percent, or 1,076,380 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.
The Department of Health Services reported 517 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, for a total of 577,712.
The state’s death toll is at 6,625 people, after DHS reported three more deaths.
An additional 4,609 Wisconsinites have been tested for COVID-19, for a total of 3,314,178.
DHS considers 6,980 cases active.
The seven-day average for daily new cases is 468, down two from Wednesday and nine from a week ago.
The seven-day average for daily new deaths is four, the same as Wednesday and down two from a week ago.
As of Wednesday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 2.9 percent, up 0.1 percentage points from Tuesday 0.4 percentage points from a week earlier, per preliminary data from DHS.
Per the Wisconsin Hospital Association, there were 239 total COVID-19 patients hospitalized on Thursday, up six from Wednesday and the same as a week ago.
There were 56 in intensive care units, down three from Wednesday and nine from a week ago.
