Agencies receive funds to continue housing program for those with opioid use disorder

Seven agencies will receive more than $750,000 to offer housing in recovery residences for those experiencing opioid use disorder and homelessness.

“These funds will continue our efforts to help folks who are struggling regain their hope, dignity and health, providing them with the safe, stable housing they need to recover,” Gov. Tony Evers said in a Tuesday statement.

The Department of Health Services and the Department of Administration created the recovery voucher program in 2022, using part of the state’s share of an opioid settlement with McKinsey & Company.

It served more than 150 people during its first year with an initial $2 million investment.

The seven agencies administering the program primarily focus on 30 counties, but all Wisconsinites can access the program through them.
