HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine receives national awards

Chippewa Falls, WI – HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered recently to celebrate the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award for the second year in a row. This award was given to St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine because it met the Center of Distinction quality standards for Healogics, Inc.

This year the hospital’s wound care center was one of 88 centers in the nation that qualified for the Center of Excellence award.

The center also received its third Center of Distinction award for meeting the quality standards set by Healogics.

Over the past two years, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine has achieved patient satisfaction rates of 94 percent and a healing rate of 93.5 percent in 21 days, among other quality standards.

Healogics is a national provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics.

St. Joseph’s wound care center is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 800 centers, with access to benchmarking data and experience of treating over two million chronic wounds. St. Joseph’s Hospital Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments included hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“Since we have opened we have healed more than 1,100 patients, saved countless limbs and improved our patient’s lives,” said Denise McNeely, the Center’s program director. “The amazing nurses and physicians who take care of our patients with the absolute highest integrity are the people responsible for these fantastic numbers.”
