School districts expected to try different maneuvers

Local school district officials may be switching health care plans for their teachers if Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed changes in his budget adjustment bill come to fruition. Paul Ryan accuses W.H. of skirting Medicare law

House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is continuing to press the White House to take on entitlements, this time accusing President Obama of failing to follow a provision of a Medicare law. Ryan claims the White House owes Congress a plan for shoring up Medicare funding because the federal government is covering more than its targeted share of the program. Walker's budget would force many people on SeniorCare into federal program

Under Governor Walker's budget, SeniorCare recipients who qualify for the federal plan would have to sign up for it in January, saving the state $15 million over two years. Budget aims to end growth of Medicaid programs in state

Wisconsin would cut Medicaid spending by $500 million over the next two years, with much of the savings coming from Family Care, under Gov. Scott Walker's budget released Tuesday. But state Medicaid spending still would go up overall because the state must pay $1.3 billion over the two years to replace federal stimulus money that has been supporting the program.
