MADISON- Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and his wife, Jessica, raised $270, 000 for American Family Children’s Hospital as part of the third annual McCarthy Golf Outing this past weekend. Along with supermodel Cindy Crawford, the McCarthys serve as honorary co-chairs of the hospital’s “Sick Kids Can’t Wait” campaign.  The total is $100,000 more than what was raised last year.

Several current and former Packers participated in the event by attending a dinner and program on Sunday night and a Monday golf tournament at Nakoma Country Club in Madison.  Beside hosts Mike and Jessica McCarthy, those who helped to raise money for the children’s hospital included “Dancing with the Stars” champion Donald Driver, Mason Crosby, Josh Sitton, Larry McCarren and Edgar Bennett.

“American Family Children’s Hospital will be the McCarthy family’s legacy charity,” said Coach McCarthy.  “Jessica and I knew at the instant that we walked into this fabulous facility that we wanted to help.”

“We cannot thank Mike and Jessica McCarthy enough for being so willing to support ‘Sick Kids Can’t Wait’ and for spreading the word about the community’s jewel of a children’s hospital,” said UW Hospital and Clinics President and CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky.

All proceeds go to the “Sick Kids Can’t Wait” campaign, a four-year, $32 million building project to meet the growing needs of patients and families at American Family Children’s Hospital.  It is the first phase of a 10-year strategic plan to complete the hospital on the UW Health campus. The project will add a total of 26 beds in pediatric intensive care, another operating room and imaging capabilities.  All the facilities will be designed and equipped specifically for pediatric patients.
