MADISON- For the next three months, supporters of American Family Children’s Hospital will double every dollar given to the hospital’s “Sick Kids Can’t Wait” fund.

UW Hospital and Clinics CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky today announced a fundraising blitz called “Double Your Impact.”  A group of supporters of the children’s hospital have pledged $1 million to match every dollar donated through “Double Your Impact,” which starts today and runs through February 28, 2013.

“This is an ideal way to make a year-end gift,” said Katen-Bahensky.  “If you know someone who is not easy to shop for, a gift to ‘Double Impact’ in his or her name is one of the greatest ways to honor a friend or family member.”

The UW Credit Union has partnered with American Family Children’s Hospital by donating promotional support for “Double Your Impact.”

The three-month fundraising effort benefits the “Sick Kids Can’t Wait” campaign, launched nine months ago. “Sick Kids Can’t Wait” is a four-year, $32 million building project to meet the growing needs of patients and families at American Family Children’s Hospital.  It is the first phase of a 10-year strategic plan to complete American Family Children’s Hospital on the UW Health campus. The project will add 26 beds in pediatric intensive care, another operating room and imaging capabilities within the children’s hospital.  All the facilities will be designed and equipped specifically for pediatric patients.
