Appleton, Wis. – Adding another layer to its commitment to environmental stewardship, St. Elizabeth Hospital recently added a ChargePoint electric vehicle charging station that patients, staff and visitors can use free of charge. The hospital is the first location in the Valley to offer this sustainable feature. The charging station is located on the first floor east entrance of the parking garage.

Using electricity to power vehicles can have significant emissions benefits. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, using hybrid and plug-in electric vehicles instead of conventional vehicles can also help reduce U.S. reliance on imported petroleum and increase energy security.

“As the motor vehicle industry innovates, so will Affinity Health System,” said Gary Kusnierz, vice president of performance excellence for Ministry Health Care. “We’re happy to provide a charging station to our patients and staff as a way to do our part for the health of the environment.

In addition, ChargePoint mobile apps provide an easy way for electric vehicle drivers to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, reserve a station and start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone.
