Contact: Cullen Werwie, 608-267-7303

Madison – Today, Governor Scott Walker issued the following statement in honor of Epilepsy Awareness Week:

“It is my hope all Wisconsinites will take the time this week to educate themselves about epilepsy and life with this condition.  Epilepsy affects 50,000 Wisconsinites and more than 2.7 million Americans, and Epilepsy Awareness Week is a good opportunity to educate ourselves and understand the challenges affecting those living with epilepsy.

Finding a cure is as important as ever since one-third of people with epilepsy are unable to control their seizures with medicine.

Epilepsy Awareness Week will be held March 25-31.  Today marked the start of the awareness campaign, as people around the state wore purple to begin raising awareness.  The Governor’s proclamation is attached and to learn more about epilepsy, click here.
