Insurers express exchange concerns

Dean Health Plan and Physicians Plus Insurance plan to participate in the state's federally-facilitated health insurance exchange next year, while WEA Trust is sitting out 2014, company executives said at a Wisconsin Health News CEO Roundtable event Tuesday. WPS Health Insurance is also taking the year off, but its subsidiary Arise Health Plan hopes to offer coverage in 2014 in its market area. (WHN, 6/12)

Budget bill resurrects changes to BadgerCare Plus

More than 29,000 children could lose access to BadgerCare Plus under changes to the program approved by the Joint Finance Committee last week. Planned Parenthood says ultrasound bill would close abortion center

In a 3-2 partisan vote, the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services approved a bill requiring physicians to provide ultrasounds before performing abortions, which could close Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin's Appleton clinic if passed into law. The full Senate is scheduled to take up the legislation today. (WHN, 6/11)

Green Bay Packers Coach Mike McCarthy and his wife, Jessica, raised $325,000 for American Family Children’s Hospital this week as part of the fourth annual McCarthy Golf Tournament. In the four years of the event, the McCarthys have raised $825,000.
