Eau Claire & Chippewa Falls, WI – Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals recently received the 2013 Wisconsin Cancer Council Community Service Award for the creation of an innovative “(GO) Chippewa Valley Campaign” designed to help promote living a healthy lifestyle — which decreases risks of cancers, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and other diseases.

Accepting the award in Madison was Georgia Smith, Director of Sacred Heart Hospital’s Cancer Care Services, and Marcia Arneson, Supervisor of Wellness Services at Sacred Heart Hospital’s Center for Healthy Living. In addition, the program will now go to the national competition for review, and Smith and Arneson will speak to legislatures in November about the program and its link to reducing risks of various forms of cancer.
