Number of navigators, certified application counselors growing

The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance said this week that the state has licensed 15 navigators and registered 232 certified application counselors. Sisters' HPV vaccine injury claim heads to federal court:

David Wahlberg of the State Journal reports: "Two sisters from Mount Horeb say a cervical cancer vaccine shut down their ovaries and almost certainly left them unable to get pregnant, a claim scheduled for a hearing Thursday and Friday in federal court in Washington, D.C." (STATE JOURNAL, 11/7)

Cost of health insurance in Milwaukee increases, could prompt small businesses to terminate plans

Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire earns fifth consecutive Consumer Choice Award

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — For the fifth consecutive year, Mayo Clinic Health System has been ranked as the Eau Claire market’s top choice for health care, according to a national research firm. The National Research Corporation, a health care consumer research group based in Lincoln, Neb., included Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire in its most recent list of “Consumer Choice Award” recipients.

HIRSP set to close with $14.5 million surplus

The state's high risk pool is set to finish the 2013 calendar year with a $14.5 million surplus. Nearly half of that, $7 million, is expected to be returned to members. Insurers would see a $4.7 million refund and providers would get $2.7 million back, under a plan approved last week by the HIRSP Authority. (WHN, 11/5)
