Aurora BayCare to be recognized among state's best for stroke care

Green Bay, Wis. – Aurora BayCare Medical Center is being honored by the Stroke Coordinators of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program for having the fastest “door-to-needle” time in the state for the third quarter.

Aurora BayCare will be honored at the Dec. 9th Stroke Coordinators of Wisconsin meeting in Madison.

“This is a tribute to everyone involved with our stroke care team and their efforts to incorporate best practices to reduce door-to-needle time,” said Dr. James Napier, neurologist at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.

Door-to-needle time refers to the amount of time it takes for a patient suffering acute ischemic stroke to receive intravenous plasminogen activator treatment. Studies have shown that the odds for a more effective recovery are greatly increased the quicker a patient receives such treatment.

Aurora BayCare Medical Center is a 167-bed, full-service tertiary care hospital located at 2845 Greenbrier Road on Green Bay’s east side. It opened in September 2001 as a joint effort of Aurora Health Care and BayCare Clinic. Aurora BayCare is committed to creating a better way to provide high quality tertiary health care, the latest in medical technology and superior service.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve health care quality. Aurora offers services at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

BayCare Clinic is the largest physician-owned specialty-care clinic in Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is comprised of over 100 specialty physicians with expertise in more than 20 specialties. BayCare Clinic physicians have served patients in Green Bay and the surrounding region for over 25 years.
