MADISON – More than 2,000 toys and 90,000 meals were provided to the community from the annual   UW Health Drive to Share holiday campaign to support local charities.

Each year, UW Health invites employees and the public to participate in the organization’s Drive to Share holiday campaign to support local charities.  This year, through the generosity of employees, patients and families, UW Health was able to:

  • provide more than 2,000 toys to less fortunate children through the Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program.
  • honor and remember 1,770 people through Friends of UW Hospital and Clinic’s Love Lights program and raise more than $16,000 to support patient and family programs.
  • donate 90,673 meals to Share the Holidays, helping Second Harvest Foodbank raise money for more than two million meals during the campaign.
  • adopt 120 families through the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family program.  UW Health employees donated more than $40,000 in gifts to needy families, touching 585 lives.

Through the rest of the year, UW Health employees support numerous local fundraising events, charity drives and employee-giving campaigns.   Additionally, the organization provides more than $200 million in community benefits each year.

UW Health includes UW Hospital and Clinics, UW Medical Foundation and UW School of Medicine and Public Health.
