CMS could penalize more than 20 Wisconsin hospitals for high infection rates

Twenty-three of Wisconsin’s 65 hospitals treating Medicare patients are at risk of federal penalties for high rates of infections or other hospital-acquired conditions, giving the state the seventh highest preliminary penalty rate in the nation at 35 percent, according to a Kaiser Health News analysis.
