Hospital Sisters Health System finalizes agreement to join Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin

Addition increases network’s broad choice of providers

Milwaukee, Wis. (Jan. 12, 2015) – Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) and Prevea Health in Wisconsin have finalized a previously announced agreement to join Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin (IHN), a clinically integrated network of major health care systems and the Medical College of Wisconsin. With the addition of HSHS and Prevea Health, Integrated Health Network has grown to include 42 hospitals, 500 clinics and more than 5,000 physicians spanning northern, western, central and eastern Wisconsin.

Through IHN, the network members leverage a sophisticated data and care management infrastructure to provide the higher quality, more efficient and more affordable health care. On behalf of the network, IHN negotiates value-based contracts with insurance providers and employers who share in cost savings when quality care is offered more efficiently.

“The high standards demonstrated by HSHS and Prevea Health make them an excellent addition to IHN as we continue to create a collaborative, statewide network of hospitals, clinics and providers dedicated to offering the kind of health care we all want,” said Catherine Jacobson, IHN board chair and president and CEO of Froedtert Health. “With the addition of HSHS and Prevea Health, more people will benefit from IHN’s goal to provide exceptional health care close to home, by doctors they know and trust, at a cost they can afford.”

Hospital Sisters Health System operates HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, Green Bay; HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls; HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan; HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire; and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital and HSHS Medical Group, Chippewa Falls.

Prevea Health, a Green Bay-based physician partnership with Hospital Sisters Health System Eastern Wisconsin Division (HSHS-EWD), has more than 350 primary and specialty care providers, 35 health centers and 26 employer-based clinics in the northeastern Wisconsin region. Prevea Health, together with HSHS-EWD and Dean Health Plan, jointly own Prevea360 Health Plan, which serves residents of northeast Wisconsin.

“I’m impressed by the caliber of the IHN partners and how well they function as a clinically integrated network,” said Therese Pandl, president and chief executive officer of HSHS-EWD. “IHN offers a network of coordinated care that improves quality and lowers costs with an excellent geographic coverage throughout the state.”

Prevea Health president and chief executive officer Ashok Rai, MD, said, “Joining this pioneering group of collaborative partners enables us to develop new, cost-effective ways to coordinate care, share best practices and succeed in the coming era of population health management. It will also help strengthen our Prevea360 Health Plan offerings in northeast Wisconsin.”
