Johnson appointed to Wisconsin State Board of Nursing
MEDFORD, Wis. – Jodi Johnson, RN, MS, vice president of patient care services for Aspirus Medford Hospital & Clinics, was recently appointed by Governor Scott Walker to the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. Johnson is one of 11 members on this board.
“I feel honored to be appointed to the State Board of Nursing in which I will have the opportunity to shape the practice of nursing in Wisconsin,” Johnson says.
The Wisconsin Board of Nursing is a government agency charged with regulating nursing practice. The board protects the public by ensuring that standards of nursing practice are met and nurses are competent in their practice. Typical duties of the board of nursing can include:
- Interpreting and enforcing the state nurse practice act.
- Administering nurse licensure by overseeing exams to grant licenses and taking action against licenses of nurses who have exhibited unsafe nursing practice.
- Accrediting or approving nurse education programs.
- Developing nursing practice standards from the regulatory standpoint.
- Developing policies, administrative rules, and regulations.
The board also investigates complaints concerning nurses’ compliance with the state’s nurse practice law, holds hearings for license holders, and determines and administers disciplinary actions based on evidence of violations of the law.
