“We’re honored to receive this recognition, knowing that it speaks to the healthy partnerships to which we’re committed in the Eau Claire area,” said Jay Shrader, director of disease management and wellness, who accepted the award on behalf of Security Health Plan. “Security Health Plan is invested in programs and collaborations that will improve the health and well-being of our communities and our neighbors.”

Security Health Plan is the first recipient of a Communities Champion Award for organizations and was praised for consistently recognizing the many social, economic, behavioral and environmental factors that impact its members’ health.

“We want to recognize there are big entities putting forth a lot of effort and saying health is important,” said Gina Schemenauer, community health educator, Eau Claire City-County Health Department, said in explaining the new award. “Everybody’s doing great work and they need to be recognized in the community.”
