Sen. Terry Moulton and Rep. Mike Rohrkaste receive WISCA ‘Legislator of the Year’ award

Senator Moulton and Representative Mike Rohrkaste are recognized for their efforts to help improve healthcare delivery in Wisconsin

MADISON– This summer, state Senator Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls) and state Representative Mike Rohrkaste (R-Neenah) were both named the Association of Wisconsin Surgery Centers’ (WISCA) Legislator of the Year. WISCA members presented the award to Rep. Rohrkaste on July 19, 2016 at the Woodland Surgery Center in Appleton, WI. Sen. Moulton received his award on September 2, 2016 at the Independent Surgery Center, LLC in Chippewa Falls, WI.

The WISCA Legislator of the Year award is given to one state representative and one state senator who advocates and champions policies to support ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in Wisconsin.

Currently, there are 70 surgery centers across Wisconsin that perform a variety of procedures on tens of thousands of Wisconsin patients. ASCs are a growing sector in the health care delivery system because they provide the highest quality care in an efficient and cost effective manner.

In the 2015-16 legislative session, Sen. Moulton and Rep. Rohrkaste co-authored legislation to create an annual ASC report on the ASC assessment program. This report will provide state agencies, the legislature and WISCA members valuable information on the ASC assessment and will ensure transparency going forward. Governor Walker signed this legislation into law on March 30, 2016.
