Governor Walker celebrates 17,000th LOGIQ E9 at GE Healthcare

Wisconsin-developed ultrasound system is global leader

Wauwatosa – Governor Scott Walker joined GE employees, industry leaders, and members of the community at GE Healthcare in Wauwatosa today to celebrate the 17,000th LOGIQ E9, which was presented to the University of Wisconsin Health System. The LOGIQ E9 is the world’s premier general imaging ultrasound system, which serves more than 600 million patients every year. This system helps meet the needs of healthcare providers and institutions through extraordinary image quality, enhanced workflow, and expert tools.

“We’ve proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month throughout the state, and today’s celebration of the 17,000th LOGIQ E9 ultrasound system is a perfect example of the quality products our state engineers,” Governor Walker said. “This quality system has an enormous impact on healthcare professionals and patients around the world, and we’re proud to say it was developed and continues to be powered by Wisconsin engineers.”

GE Healthcare produces the LOGIQ E9 in southeast Wisconsin. The ultrasound system officially launched in 2008 and was developed in about five years by approximately 100 Wisconsin-based engineers. This same group of engineers continues to enhance the ultrasound system to best serve their customers and improve the quality of healthcare. The LOGIQ E9 is the world’s leading ultrasound system for radiology departments and is utilized at leading health institutions, including the University of Wisconsin HealthCenter and Froedtert Hospital.

GE Healthcare first entered the medical ultrasound industry in 1990 and expanded its operations in Milwaukee County to become a global industry over the course of 11 years. Today, GE Healthcare is the top provider of medical ultrasounds worldwide.
