Security Health Plan helps save Marshfield Police Department money while reducing landfill waste

MARSHFIELD – Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., helped save the Marshfield Police Department nearly $25,000 on June 19 with a donation of office furniture destined for a landfill.

Marshfield Police Department Chief of Police, Rick Gramza, estimates the donation of 11 office cubicles and conference table saved the department over $23,000. Security Health Plan is in the midst of a remodeling project and is replacing the cubicles to maximize the use of space at its office building in Marshfield. Security Health Plan’s Director of Operations Sara Foemmel said the Marshfield Police Department had a need for the office furniture, so the Plan was eager to assist.

“The benefits are two-fold,” Foemmel said. “We can help the police department save money, and reduce the amount of waste going to a landfill. The cubicles would have likely been destroyed otherwise.”

Gramza said the Marshfield Police Department is in the process of reorganizing the work spaces so the donation is very welcome.

“When this opportunity came up, it seemed like a good fit and provided a huge cost savings for us,” he said. “This type of donation is great for the city as a whole. It saves the taxpayers money, repurposes equipment from Security Health Plan and will make for more efficient use of space within the police department.”

The chief added, “We strive to be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money, to create efficient and practical workspaces for our employees, and to collaborate with the community in any way possible. Our core values include efficiency, teamwork, progressiveness and accountability. Our partnership with Security Health Plan assists us in bringing these core values to life. We thank Security Health Plan for the generosity and collaboration with Marshfield Police Department.  We appreciate the commitment to the community and us.”
