Advocate Aurora Health named ‘Top Workplace’ by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee, Wis. — Advocate Aurora Health, one of the top 10 largest not-for-profit, integrated health care systems in the nation, today was recognized as a 2019 Top Workplace by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The newspaper says the recognition “identifies organizations that have created exceptional places to work” and measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection, among others. The Top Workplace distinction is based solely on third-party surveys completed by an organization’s team members.

This is the first Top Workplace recognition by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for Advocate Aurora Health since Aurora Health Care and Advocate Health Care merged in April 2018. Aurora is an eight-time winner of the award, most recently receiving the recognition last year. Advocate has won a similar Top Workplace accolade from the Chicago Tribune seven times, and Advocate Aurora Health was named to its most recent list.

“One of our most important priorities is attracting and retaining the most talented workforce, allowing us to continue to provide the best care to our patients and fulfill our purpose of helping people live well,” said Nick Turkal, MD, President and CEO of Advocate Aurora Health. “What makes this award especially meaningful is that it’s a direct reflection of how our team members feel about our culture and the work environment that together we’ve created.”

“We’re grateful for and proud of our 70,000 physicians, nurses and team members,” said Jim Skogsbergh, President and CEO of Advocate Aurora Health. “We know that if our team members feel this is the best place to work, our patients will feel this is the best place to entrust their health and wellness. We remain committed to ensuring that our team members have access to rewarding jobs with comprehensive benefits, competitive wages and an engaging work environment.”

To earn the Top Workplaces honor, team member feedback was gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC.

“Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Our research shows organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover and are better equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”
