COVID-19 cases surpass 20,000 in Wisconsin

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 surpassed 20,000 last Friday, according to Department of Health Services data.

As of Sunday, there were 20,835 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. There were 647 deaths statewide.

The Wisconsin National Guard reported Friday that it has collected specimens for more than 100,000 COVID-19 tests. Major General Paul Knapp, Wisconsin’s adjutant general, called it a “great milestone.”

Teams, composed of nearly 600 soldiers and airmen in total, have established site-specific testing sites as well as community-based ones, with specimens sent to labs for analysis.

Last Friday, the guard was running testing sites in Dane, Green Lake, Kenosha, Langlade, Milwaukee and Racine counties.
