Wisconsin sees second highest daily COVID-19 case count, record hospitalizations

The Department of Health Services reported 2,392 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, for a total of 108,324.

It was the second-highest daily count, after last Friday set a record at more than 2,500.

Six more deaths brought the total to 1,265.

There were 13,279 more people tested, for a total of 1,479,394. The positivity rate was 18 percent.

The average positivity rate over the last week was 17 percent. The average daily number of new cases reported over the past week is 1,940.

Wisconsin COVID-19 hospitalizations are on the rise, setting a new record on Thursday with 528, an increase of 19 from Wednesday and up 181 from the prior week, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

There were 151 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, an increase of 11 and up 48 from last week.
