COVID-19 hospitalizations hit new high

There were 853 COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals, a new high, according to data released late Tuesday.

That was a single-day increase of 71 patients, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

There were 207 more patients than at the same point last week.

There were 216 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, which was also a record high. That was a single-day increase of seven and up 11 from the same point last week.

The Department of Health Services reported 2,020 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, for a total of 136,379.

There were 18 more deaths, for a total 1,399.

An additional 11,559 people were tested, for a total 1,618,495.

The seven-day positivity rate by person was 17 percent as of Monday. It was 9 percent by test.

The seven-day average for new daily cases was 2,346 as of Tuesday.
