Agrace to Open Adult Day Center in Madison this Spring

MADISON, Wis. – This spring the Madison area will see a new option for older adults who need company and daytime support. The Agrace Adult Day Center will provide daytime senior care for older adults who cannot, or choose not to, stay alone all day. This freestanding center is centrally located at 1702 W. Beltline Highway in Madison, and will be open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Agrace Adult Day Center is designed to feel familiar and friendly to older adults, with accessible spaces for activities, quiet rest, meals and more. Clients can attend the Center daily with plenty of space for physical distancing. Eventually, the space will serve up to 64 adults a day.

“In addition to serving seniors who live alone and want support from others throughout the day, the Center is a welcome option for families that need either a regular or an occasional respite from caregiving,” said Kewana Jamison, RN, who is managing the Center. “We will also engage seniors in activities that can help slow the progression of dementia and reduce cognitive decline.”

Agrace Adult Day Center clients will enjoy companionship from caregivers, volunteers and other seniors, nutritious meals, physical activities like chair yoga and games, and mentally stimulating activities including crafts, classes, gardening and music.

In addition to the registered nurse manager, Adult Day Center staff include caregivers, a CNA dementia specialist, a chef and volunteers. A trained, designated staff member gives each client their prescribed medications during the day. The Center maintains a staff-to-client ratio of 1:8 or fewer, and Agrace staff and volunteers have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

There is a $77 per day fee, which includes the meals, services and activities described above. Other services such as bathing and haircuts may be available at an additional cost.
