DHS: More than 26 percent of Wisconsinites have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose

More than 26 percent of the state’s population have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to data updated Wednesday.

Wisconsin vaccinators administered 2,442,810 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Tuesday.

Providers gave 41,734 doses on Tuesday, with a seven-day average of 46,611 daily doses.

Per the data, 26.3 percent of the state’s population, or 1,543,154 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 15.3 percent, or 893,146 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.

The Department of Health Services reported 776 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, for a total of 573,899. It was the highest number of new cases reported on a single day since Feb. 25, when 840 were reported.

There were 353 new cases on Tuesday, when DHS said it couldn’t update data due to “technical difficulties.”

There were 10 deaths reported Wednesday and 11 on Tuesday, for a total of 6,597.

So far, 3,267,595 Wisconsinites have been tested for COVID-19. DHS considers 6,368 cases active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 452, up 65 from Tuesday and 41 from a week ago.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths is six, down one from Tuesday and up two from a week ago.

As of Tuesday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 2.5 percent, up 0.2 percentage points from Monday and 0.3 percentage points from a week earlier, per preliminary data from DHS.
