Evers’ administration plans weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated state workers
State employees who are unvaccinated for COVID-19 will have to be tested weekly, Gov. Tony Evers’ administration said Tuesday.
The testing requirement will go into effect Oct. 18. It’ll apply to all state employees who are not vaccinated or haven’t shared their vaccination status with the state.
“We’re looking to every tool at our disposal to address the delta variant, including testing, wearing masks and vaccination,” Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan said in a statement. “State employees are critical partners in helping us protect the people of Wisconsin, and we look forward to the day when we can all put COVID-19 in the rear view mirror.”
Nearly 70 percent of state employees have told the Department of Administration that they are vaccinated.
