Rodriguez leads healthcare workforce task force

Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez will chair the Governor’s Task Force on Healthcare Workforce, a group established by Gov. Tony Evers Monday.

The task force will create an action plan centered around workforce development, innovation, education and training. Evers will consider its recommendations when crafting his 2025-27 biennial budget.

The governor previewed the task force in his State of the State address last week.

“This task force, led by the lieutenant governor, is going to play a critical role in our administration’s work toward real, impactful solutions to alleviate the burdens experienced by folks in our healthcare workforce now and into the future,” he said in a statement.

Rodriguez is a registered nurse and a former healthcare executive.

In addition, the task force will include representatives from the Department of Health Services, Department of Workforce Development, Universities of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and Wisconsin Technical College System.

Evers may appoint others to the group too.

It will have to submit its plan by Sept. 1.
