Evers signs into law Medicaid postpartum coverage extension
Gov. Tony Evers signed into law a bill Wednesday that will extend Medicaid postpartum coverage from 60 days to a year.
“When Wisconsin moms thrive, our families thrive, our communities thrive and our state thrives,” Evers said at a bill signing at Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Wisconsin will be the 49th state to extend Medicaid postpartum coverage to a year, according to KFF, a health policy group. Arkansas is the holdout.
Expanded coverage will be available July 1, following review by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Evers’ office said in a statement.
