MCW names Kurpad next CEO
The Medical College of Wisconsin has named Dr. Shekar Kurpad its next CEO and president, effective July 1.
Kurpad is currently a neurosurgery professor and senior associate dean of neuroscience at the MCW School of Medicine. He’s also founding director of the Wisconsin Institute of NeuroScience.
“Dr. Kurpad was selected following a comprehensive national search and brings a proven record of leadership, innovation and impact,” John Donofrio, chair of the MCW Board of Trustees, said in a Tuesday statement. “He is uniquely positioned to guide MCW forward, building on our strong foundation, while advancing academic medicine through our patient care, research, education and community engagement missions.”
Kurpad will succeed Dr. John Raymond, who has served as MCW CEO since July 1, 2010. Raymond will continue to serve on the MCW faculty and help with the transition.
