Hospital photographer’s images included in nationwide exhibit

MADISON- Three photographs by American Family Children’s Hospital photographer John Maniaci were selected for the 2015 Children’s Hospitals Photo Exhibit, a national competition through the Children’s Hospital Association.  The exhibit is comprised of powerful images of brave patients, supportive families and compassionate health care providers.  The exhibit celebrates children’s hospitals’ commitment to the health of all children.

Maniaci’s photos were chosen from more than 250 photos submitted by 57 children’s hospitals around the country.  According to the judges, the photographs stood out for all-around excellence, composition and ability to relay what makes children’s hospitals unique.

Fifty images were selected for the exhibit.  But one of Maniaci’s photos was chosen as one of four “Judge’s Choice” favorite photos.  https://www.childrenshospitals.org/Newsroom/Photo-Exhibit/Stories/Neuroblastoma-Cancer-Patient

“All of us at American Family Children’s Hospital are proud of John’s achievement,” said Jeff Poltawsky, vice president of the children’s hospital. “John has an uncanny talent for capturing real life at the children’s hospital.  His work shows courageous patients and families and the patient-centered care provided by all of our clinicians and staff.”

The Children’s Hospitals Photo Exhibit will be on display to the general public from June 15-16 in the Rayburn House Building and during the week of June 22 in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Building in Washington D.C.  The exhibit will also travel the country for two years to be displayed at children’s hospitals.
