League of Wisconsin Municipalities and WEA Trust create custom health plan

MADISON, Wisconsin – The League of Wisconsin Municipalities and WEA Trust recently partnered to create the League Health Plan. The plan is specially designed to help cities and villages in Wisconsin afford high quality, flexible benefits amid growing federal health plan restrictions.

“I believe this plan will help remove a big headache for some League members,” said Jerry Deschane, the League’s Executive Director. “As health plans have become more complex with additional regulations in recent years, WEA Trust has helped tailor-make a plan for the League to simplify the process.”

The League Health Plan, powered by WEA Trust, is a jointly self-funded plan specifically designed for municipalities. Fully insured small groups face additional restrictions and limitations through the Affordable Care Act. The League Health Plan is a self-funded alternative option that offers flexible benefit design and competitive pricing.

“With our long history of serving public employers, creating a partnership with the League was a natural fit,” said WEA Trust President and CEO, Mark Moody. “We know municipal employers have been underserved by the current market, and we are confident we will serve them better with the League Health Plan.”

As part of the League Health Plan, public employees will also have access to WEA Trust’s top-rated customer service team, 24/7 doctor e-visits, and bundled pricing provider contracts. Public employers can begin enrolling in the League Health Plan today. The League of Wisconsin Municipalities is a voluntary nonprofit and nonpartisan organization advocating for Wisconsin cities and villages.

The League offers legal services, training and networking for local government leaders. www.lwm-info.org WEA Trust is a not-for-profit, Wisconsin-based health insurance company that has served public employees since 1970.
