Dean Medicare Cost Plans Receive 5-Star Rating from CMS Fifth Year in a Row
Madison-based Dean Health Plan is one of seventeen health plans nationwide to receive the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) five-star rating*—the highest possible quality rating for private Medicare insurance plans—for its DeanCare Gold product.
You can view plan and rating information on the Medicare Web site at medicare.gov, or go to deancare.com/medicare. DeanCare Gold is a Medicare-approved Cost plan available to Medicare-eligible residents in Dane, Columbia, Dodge, Grant, Iowa, Jefferson, Rock and Sauk counties.
The star ratings are the result of CMS efforts to raise the quality of care provided by private Medicare plans. Specifically, the CMS star rating system gives an objective assessment of a health plan’s quality and service when selecting Medicare coverage. Medicare rates how well health plans perform on measures that span five broad categories:
- Outcomes
- Intermediate Options
- Patient Experience
- Access
- Process
“The star ratings are an important tool for seniors looking for the optimal health care for their money. Our five years of five-star ratings further solidifies Dean Health Plan as a Cost coverage of choice for the Medicare-eligible in our service area,” says Frank Lucia, President and CEO of Dean Health Plan
This year’s open enrollment period for Medicare plans for 2016 coverage is October 15 through December 7, 2015.
*Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Star Ratings are calculated each year and may change from one year to the next.
DeanCare Gold (Cost) is an HMO plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in DeanCare Gold (Cost) depends on contract renewal.
