Morgridge research CEO Schwartz to outline trends in human health at March 22 WIN-Madison

Dr. Brad Schwartz, chief executive officer of the private, non-profit Morgridge Institute for Research,will discuss the institute’s work around interdisciplinary approaches to improving human health at the March 22 meeting of the Tech Council’s Wisconsin Innovation Network in Madison.

Schwartz will describe how the work of the institute, in partnership with the UW-Madison and others, is advancing regenerative medicine, virology and vaccines, computational science and medical engineering.

The luncheon will be held at the Sheraton Hotel on Madison’s John Nolen Drive. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for WIN members, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships.

Current institute projects also involve work in mass spectrometry, which is a method of determining the precise chemical identify of a substance; human metabolism; screening chemicals that are harmful to the brain; heart disease; and prototype pathways to better connect physicians and engineers.

“The Morgridge Institute for Research is a Wisconsin resource that serves to transfer technology in novel ways that often involve multiple disciplines working together,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council. “Dr. Schwartz’s overview is a must-see for life sciences companies and others who want to learn more about working with the institute.”
