Door County Medical Center and Hospital Sisters Health System begin partnership
(November 1, 2016) STURGEON BAY, WI – Door County Medical Center (DCMC) and Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) announced that today marks the beginning of DCMC’s official transition from its affiliation with Ascension |Ministry Health Care to its partnership with HSHS.
The new organizational structure, in which HSHS enters into a minority interest affiliation with DCMC, will allow DCMC to continue to operate as a locally led and controlled hospital in partnership with HSHS. DCMC remains a Catholic institution, continuing its mission to provide compassionate health care to all.
The two organizations will work as partners to deliver high quality, health care to the residents of Door County and northeast Wisconsin. Prior to the transition, DCMC was part of Ministry Health Care and Ascension.

HSHS’ broad presence in our area, including four hospitals and several Prevea health centers, make them an ideal partner for providing coordinated, comprehensive care,” says Gerald Worrick, DCMC’s President and CEO. “The new structure will allow us to retain local control of our hospital, remain responsive to the needs of the community and continue to support partnerships that benefit community health. Our trusted team of providers and staff will care for patients with the same goals, values and relationships as before. There will be little change to the patient experience, as people will still see the same friendly faces of providers who live and work in our community, and the same specialists who have earned the patients’ trust.”

DCMC, in Sturgeon Bay, is a 25-bed acute-care hospital and outpatient medical center that offers a full range of services and specialties. DCMC medical staff includes more than 175 physicians who offer care at five locations in Door and Kewaunee counties. DCMC and HSHS have a history of working together in areas such as oncology services, lab support, electronic medical records, and specialty physician coverage through Prevea.

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay has centers of excellence for cancer, cardiovascular, orthopedics, women’s care, digestive health, and a dedicated children’s hospital with the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
