Aurora named exclusive healthcare provider of Summerfest

Aurora Health Care to provide first aid stations, lost children’s program, support for nursing moms and more

May 02, 2017

MILWAUKEE – Aurora Health Care often delivers on its purpose of helping people live well by collaborating with like-minded organizations to support their shared communities. It is in that spirit that Aurora announced today that it will be the exclusive health care provider for Summerfest. During the festival’s 11-day run, the state’s largest health care organization will support the World’s Largest Music Festival with initiatives including:

·         First Aid stations

·         Lost Children’s Program

·         Nursing Mother’s stations

·         Special programs for Summerfest’s Children’s Fest Day and Latin Music Day

·         Picnic in the Park community celebrations

·         Pre-festival wellness programming

“Aurora Health Care is dedicated to helping people live well and to supporting the communities we serve,” said Vivian King, vice president of community relations for Aurora Health Care. “Summerfest provides an excellent opportunity for us to help hundreds of thousands of people in our community live well by engaging with – and caring for – them, while showing our support for this iconic festival.”

“Aurora Health Care and Summerfest are true Wisconsin institutions, and we welcome this new partnership and collaboration as we celebrate Summerfest’s 50th edition. With Aurora’s support we are looking forward to a successful and exciting festival,” said Don Smiley, president and CEO for Summerfest.

Aurora will support Summerfest’s first aid stations, which provide critical services to festival patrons, from small cuts to life-threatening issues. Aurora’s support of the festival’s Lost Children’s program will provide identification wristbands for kids at a designated area near the festival’s Mid Gate, and a safe haven for children who become separated from their parents. Aurora will also support nursing mother’s stations—pods that provide a comfortable, private and convenient space for moms to nurse their children.

Aurora will also lend its support to two new Summerfest Picnic in the Park events incorporating music, food and fun in Milwaukee neighborhoods in May and June. Aurora Health Care plans to offer health information and screenings at these events.  More details about these events will be announced soon.

Aurora Health Care will present a pre-festival wellness program and empowerment workshop, intended mainly for millennial women living in downtown Milwaukee. The session will educate and encourage women to be their healthiest selves.

In 2015, Aurora Health Care provided more than $390 million in charitable community support, contributing to a wide array of services and programs ranging from sexual assault treatment to learn-to-read programs.
