Wisconsin Active Together recognizes communities for promoting active lifestyles

Wisconsin Active Together, an award program for communities that promote active lifestyles, recognized fourteen communities across the state Thursday.

The awards, piloted last year and funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Program, honor communities that promote places to walk, bike and be active.

Jen Gilchrist Walker, healthTIDE Active Communities coordinator, said they’re interested in community-level change and health equity.

“There’s no one size that fits all solution, so it’s kind of neat to see how things come about in each of the communities,” she said.

Walker said they’re working to connect communities together so they can share what works best for them. They’ve also opened a new cycle of applications for the award.
