DHS: 191 new COVID-19 cases, four more deaths

The Department of Health Services reported 191 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total to 610,740, per state data updated Friday.

The seven-day average for daily new cases was 144, down five from Wednesday and 118 from a week ago.

The state’s death toll was 7,150, with four new deaths and two new probably deaths reported Thursday. The seven-day average for daily new deaths was five.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate by COVID-19 test was 1.5 percent, down 0.2 percentage points from Wednesday and 0.6 percentage points from a week prior, according to preliminary data.

Wisconsin vaccinators administered 5,216,241 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Thursday, giving 12,188 doses that day, with a seven-day average of 10,388 daily shots.

Per state data, 48.2 percent of the state’s population, or 2,808,405 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 42.5 percent, or 2,475,509 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.

There were 185 COVID-19 patients hospitalized on Friday, down nine from Thursday and 44 from a week ago, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

Of those patients, 60 were in an intensive care unit, down nine from Thursday and 18 from a week ago.
