The final Weeks of Caring campaign of 2017 will focus on helping the communities served by Aurora Health Care, including a meaningful opportunity in honor of a fellow caregiver in Sheboygan. Caregivers will fill more than 600 volunteer slots across Aurora’s service area from Sept. 25 – Oct. 1.

“It was embarrassing, even as a kid,” remembered Marshfield Clinic Senior Pharmacy Technician Jillian Medina-Fenner of her childhood family trips to the local food pantry. “My mom was embarrassed, too. She felt like, ‘I shouldn’t have to do this. I should be able to put food on the table without this.’”

“Summer camps are often geared toward the privileged families who can afford the extra cost for their children – but not this one. The Royal Family KIDS’ one-week resident summer camp is aimed at kids in the foster care system,” said Lindy Nelson, former Marshfield Medical Center chaplain.

The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities awarded Employment First Partner grants to 14 community organizations, including: schools, employment providers, managed care organizations, and advocacy organizations. These organizations will work in their local communities to expand employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

State health officials say the flu season is getting an early start in Wisconsin.

High-tech flu surveillance within clinics can accurately track, in real time, early flu activity, peak season and the end of the flu season, according to University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health researchers.

Two researchers from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health will join forces to discover how a particular gene could affect a deadly, rare childhood genetic disease.
