Ambulatory surgical centers that serve a high number of Medicaid patients and benefit from an assessment that the state's next budget is set to end could see increased Medicaid reimbursement under a technical amendment approved by the Assembly Wednesday.
The Assembly has approved the state's 2017-19 budget, including a provision added by the budget-writing committee that aims to save money through coordinating the care of high utilizers of emergency rooms.

Hospital consolidation and the growth of health systems with a national footprint in Wisconsin are continuing to shape the state's healthcare landscape, according to Allan Baumgarten, a Minnesota-based independent analyst.
Madison-based Redox is continuing to collect contracts with out-of-state health systems for its cloud-based interoperability platform. It announced Tuesday its partnering with Brigham Health to connect applications to the academic medical center's Epic electronic health record.
The Evidence-Based Health Policy Project (EBHPP) will host a briefing on programs and research at UW-Madison on falls among older adults.
