Abrams looks to long-term care’s future, saying plan boosting Medicaid rates provides stability

Last week, the Legislature's budget-writing committee advanced a plan that would provide hundreds of millions to long-term care facilities as they grapple with a workforce crisis. The plan builds on a new payment standard for nursing homes, continues a Medicaid rate increase and provides more money for professional caregivers and their training.

Lawmakers sign off on transferring Medicaid dollars to help meet shortfall at mental health institutions

The Joint Finance Committee unanimously approved a request Thursday by the Department of Health Services to transfer state funding intended for the Medicaid program to fill a projected funding shortfall at state-run mental health institutions.
