June 17 – Family Care: What’s next?

Family Care, one of the state’s Medicaid long-term care programs, is undergoing changes.

Health insurers are taking a greater role in coordinating services, with national carriers entering the market. Some are acquiring local nonprofit managed care organizations.

State health officials are working to increase choice in the program, expand access to care, allow more use of technology and boost inclusion. Demographic changes signal a greater need for long-term care services.

More than 50,000 Wisconsinites participate in Family Care. A virtual Wisconsin Health News will take a deep dive into the program and what’s next for it.
