Wheaton CEO touts togetherness

Integrated Health Network pitched its new name and a new self-insurance product to a room full of insurance brokers earlier this week at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. The network is made up of six independent health systems, including Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, that represents 4,500 physicians and 34 hospitals. (WHN, 6/27)

Abortion clinic buffer zone ruling doesn't stop Madison ordinance

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a 35-foot protest-free zone outside abortion clinics in Massachusetts, ruling unanimously that creating such a buffer zone violates the First Amendment rights of protesters. But the decision has no immediate impact on a new ordinance in Madison that creates a 100-foot buffer zone around any type of health care facility, according to the city attorney’s office. CMS could penalize more than 20 Wisconsin hospitals for high infection rates

Twenty-three of Wisconsin’s 65 hospitals treating Medicare patients are at risk of federal penalties for high rates of infections or other hospital-acquired conditions, giving the state the seventh highest preliminary penalty rate in the nation at 35 percent, according to a Kaiser Health News analysis.
