Health insurer rebate exemptions would cost consumers

The request by the state's insurance commissioner to exempt health insurers from having to spend 80% of premiums on medical care could cost consumers an estimated $14 million over three years. That works out to a savings of 1% or less of what consumers who buy their own insurance would spend in that time period. (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/2)

3 more deaths reported to FDA in alcohol wipes case

Federal regulators have received reports of three more deaths possibly connected to contaminated alcohol wipes made and sold by a Wisconsin company, according to a newly released review from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The report on Hartland-based H&P Industries and its sister company, Triad Group, says there have been a total of 11 deaths reported to the agency in the wake of a recall of contaminated products, according to the document received Monday by the Journal Sentinel through an open records request.
