OCI: One-fifth of exchange enrollees have not paid first month premiums

Nearly 20 percent of Wisconsinites who signed up on the state's federally facilitated health insurance exchange for coverage starting Jan. 1 and Feb. 1 did not pay their first month's premium, according to Deputy Commissioner of Insurance Dan Schwartzer. Schwartzer said other states are experiencing a similar rate, based on conversations he's had with other insurance commissioners. (WHN, 3/19)

Oral chemotherapy bill passes Senate; awaits uncertain future in Assembly

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, scheduled a vote for a bill - which he prevented from having a floor session last week - to require insurers charge the same rates for coverage of oral and intravenous chemotherapy, and then joined nearly every senator in approving the legislation Tuesday. Colon cancer screening: 80 percent by 2018

MADISON- Wisconsin is taking part in a national campaign by the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT) to focus efforts over the next four years on dramatically increasing the colorectal cancer screening rates and awareness of the potential for early detection and prevention. NCCRT was co-founded by the American Cancer Society and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 50 organizations have already pledged to embrace the shared goal of increasing national colorectal cancer screening rates to 80 percent by 2018.
