Confirmed new coronavirus case count in Wisconsin increases to 19

State health officials said Friday that the number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Wisconsin has now reached 19 since the outbreak started.

Officials told reporters that there are:

  • two cases in Milwaukee County
  • one in Racine County
  • three in Sheboygan County
  • six in Fond du Lac County
  • five in Dane County (including the patient who recovered last month)
  • one in Pierce County
  • one in Waukesha County

“This increase in cases is exactly what we were anticipating,” said Julie Willems Van Dijk, deputy secretary at the Department of Health Services.

She said that’s why Gov. Tony Evers declared a public health emergency on Thursday and why the agency released additional guidance.
